Tuesday 3rd April Fixtures

Postby Mountfield » Tue Apr 03 2012, 15:23

Saltdean United Vs Forest
KO 7:45pm @ Hill Park

Huge game in the division 3 title/promotion race. A win for Saltdean would put them in a very good position for promotion to Division 2 whilst closing the gap on Newhaven at the top of the division who visit on Monday.

A win for Forest would improve their chances of catching the top 2 as they still have to host both Newhaven and Saltdean in the last few weeks of the season.

Exciting times in what is now a 3 horse race for promotion.

Looking forward to watching saltdean tonight. Was unfortunately not able to make last sat against pease Pottage but heard they didn't really play. Will be a tough test at home to a strong foster side. Looking forward to a good game.

Saltdean 2-0 Forest
Division Three

Two second half goals from Kane Louis won the points for ten-man Saltdean after Dean Ghamsari was sent off for an off the ball incident.

Tigers 2-0 Forest

A great result for 10 men Saltdean against a very physical and well organised Forest team. Very little to separate in the first half with the odd chance for both teams.

The turning point in the game arrived approx. 15 mins into the second half when an off the ball incident resulted in Dean Ghamsari receiving a straight red. From my angle it looked like handbags from both players, but a bit of simulation from the Forest defender was witnessed by the linesman who ran on to the pitch to notify the ref. Unfortunately these off the ball incidents occur at the very highest level and Dean should have known better than to get involved and raise his hand. Forest did not make The one man advantage count and were restricted to long range efforts. The game needed a spark and it came in the form of sub Kane Louis who scored 2 goals inside 5 minutes.

Saltdean have a cup semi-final Saturday before title and local rivals Newhaven visit Hill Park on Monday in a game which sees the strongest two teams battle for the title...

Be interesting to know what other teams Predict the result to be.

A physical game On a bobbly pitch but I think Saltdean were worthy winners. Credit to Forest though, one of the strongest teams we have played this season, should finish 3rd.
