SCFL Div 1, 2, 3 "Team of the Year"

Postby Modric » Mon Apr 23 2012, 10:54

After seeing the nominations and the winners of the PFA Team of the Year (Hart, Walker, Coloccini, Baines, Silva, Parker, Toure, Bale, Rooney, Van Persie). I was intrigued to see that if there was to be a Team of the Year for each County Division (1,2 & 3), who'd be included?

Scott Murfin of Pagham and Charlie Walker of Lancing up front for County 1 i'm thinking?

Murfin and Walker are clearly excellent strikers but can't feel Scott Tipper deserves a special mention:23 goals for a team that finished 5th from bottom in Division 1. How many goals would he get for a top four side I wonder?

Talking goalscorers to add to Scott Tipper, all below scoring well in their divisions for clubs slightly
off the pace.
Tipper, Scott ARUNDEL 23
Aston, Damon LOXWOOD 23
Mann, Lucas WORTHING UNITED 19
Miller, Joseph UCKFIELD TOWN 17
McDowell, Andrew AFC UCKFIELD 19

And although not in divisions 1 to 3 a mention for Sheldrick, Luke MIDHURST & EASEBOURNE 16
goals for a side that finished bottom

Cracking effort from all in my book!

Yes. And credit to all those guys for staying loyal to their clubs when no doubt many 'bigger' clubs came calling

Lucas Mann has spent the 1st half of the season, 'doing us a favour' playing right mid. He then spent a fair few games playing centre mid or the withdrawn '2nd' striker......A tireless performer who gives you what you ask no matter how much he'd prefer to just be playing up front..... He'd be in any team i was picking either 'virtually' or in reality.

To add a twist to the thread, in addition to players for team of the year , let's hear about any up and coming reserve players or youth that have caught the eye this year??? Must be a few out there that have the potential to kick on over next couple of seasons??

It has been quite nice too see that nobody is running away with the top goalscoring charts. The likes of Tipper keeping the Lancing lad on his toes, yet the gap between both of their teams is pretty big. Very similar situation in the rest of the leagues.

It's actually quite nice to see that there isn't anyone from any of the 3 Leagues that is particular "running away with it". The likes of Scott Tipper keeping the Lancing lad on his toes despite the difference in their teams league positions. It's a very similar situation in the other 2 leagues as well!!
