Financial boost for Lingfield FC?

Postby guerrero » Thu Apr 26 2012, 20:25

I hear that they've had a bit of luck!
Football is a simple game....It's the damn players that make it difficult.

The manager won some money , the club did not.
Nothing in the article to say he will give anything to the club

Dear Dixie is of course well 'North' of 6 feet, of formidable girth, with a 'Bark' akin to a depth charge, accordingly one could formulate the opinion that he reaches the stage of advanced refreshment only after copious amounts of alcohol, however I am led to believe that is far from the actualite !!

My dear Mike

Indeed the word 'Hackneyed' perhaps best describes the inexorable accusations that I am a devotee of 'Lingfield FC' but alas I can only re-iterate that they are works of fiction to rival 'Harry Potter'. :-h

All we need now are titles for the seven books. From some earlier postings along these lines we already have some candidates.

Gerald Goat and the curiously sloping pitch.

Gerald Goat and the roofless cowshed.

Here's an extract from the first book.....
"Gerald Goat now stood on the outskirts of East Grinstead in a state of perplexion. The directions to Lingfield set out in the letter looked plain enough, but he had already tried finding platform 11 3/4 at Horsted Keynes station and had been told that it had been a victim of the Beeching cuts in the early 1960's and that he had better walk. Now he had spent 3 hours steadfastly heading north but had reached the Surrey border without any sign of a racetrack, let alone a football pitch.

A slightly chubby man swigging a can of Tennants super approached him and in a broad scottish accent that Gerald had difficulty in translating, asked Gerald "Are ye looking for Lingfield Football Club? Ye won't find that in yon map of Sussex ye ken. I'm going their meeself Jis follow me mon." At which point Dixie picked up his sports bag, took a run atriaght at a large Oak Tree as if he expected to be able to run straight through it. Gerald stared in amazement as Dixie knocked himself unconscious, but still managed to land on the floor without spilling a drop.........

My dear Vandertaff

I could barely contain my mirth at perusing your exceedingly amusing contribution to the debate ! Indeed there was raucous merriment to the extent that the noise emitted would have done justice to a byre at milking time. In fact I was convulsed with chortles !

Clearly you are an accomplished farceur !!
