Crawley Down (0) 1 Ramsgate (0) 2
(Cade 57.) (Taylor 60, Pulman 78.)
The Anvil blip continued today with another poor performance against a strong Rams unit who dominated midfield thro out backed up by a strong rearguard, whilst the homesters midfield could never supply enough quality balls to feed the strike force of Cade and Blewden, themselves having to rely on long balls out of a desperate defence.
Against all odds the Anvils opened the scoring on 57 when Gaby Odunaike (better performance today) on a run supplied Jamie Cade who was on hand to score his 13th league goal of the season, the Rams quickly responded with midfielder Joe Taylor running thro to equalise on the hour, the homesters pressed forward and chances were created as the Ram backline began to creak with a Fraser Logan cross being headed onto the upright by Hassan Nyang and a Blewden (no luck today) shot being hacked off the line.
Then to cap it all the final calamitous finish imaginable with Anvil keeper Mark Zawadaski trying to dribble the ball past striker Ian Pulman there was to be only one winner namely Pulman who turned and lobbed the keeper for the Rams second and winning goal, much to the delight of the Ram support behind the goal.
Not exactly a confidence boosting result to take to Hassocks on Wednesday against Eastbourne Boro in the SSC.
