Lindfield 5 - 2 Forest Row

Was not at the game but by all accounts the fronts played some lovely football first half, breaking through the visitors defence regularly. Goals for Mike MacDonald, Williamson, Elkins and Popell (not sure one spelling!) sent us in 4-0 up at the break. Phil Elks was instrumental and he also hit the bar and post in the first half.

Forest Row upped their intensitity 2nd half and really got stuck in, pulling one back from the spot. Apparently it got a bit heated 2nd half especially after a head injury to Horlick in the visitors box was not seen by the ref and whilst he lay injured, Row worked the ball up the other end and scored. Eventually the lads settled down and started playing passing football again, a freekick on the touchline was swung over and met with a thumped header by Matt MacDonald to make it 5-2 which better reflected the balance of the game.
Up the Swans!!!

Where have Lindfield got their new players from, is it second team players stepping up or new players joining the club in pre-season? They seem to have done pretty well so far.
Up the Mavs!

Just dont get Marshy started :D It was booked for last saturday but then Burgess Hill got given a home cup game so pitch not available, midweek date was suggested to avoid getting behind on fixtures and Forest Row were happy to play.

Cowden Mavs - It is well known we lost pretty much our whole front side to Hurst as they stepped up to play county league after several successful seasons in Mid Sussex. New manager Tony MacDonald did a great job to get in new players from various and a couple of the lads from the reserves and fringe players from last season's firsts have stepped up. Management and players have done well to gel so quickly and we have mad a pretty good start this year although it is early days!

Lindfield have a cracking set up thats why, and players will always like the idea of playing there fixtures at Leylands Park.

I am a little suprised given the hype surrounding Forest Row this year however, still very early doors though to be drawing any conclusions from results as yet in my opinion.

Not commenting on the midweek nonsense !

I was really impressed with Lindfield when we played them a couple of weeks back, they were strong last year and with the news of lots of players leaving I expected them to struggle this year - Obviously wrong there!!

A very good footballing side with a couple of very skillful & tricky players. Looking forward to the Cup game next Wednesday, we'll have to up our game after the last match, as were fortunate to come away with a point!

After what I heard I though Forest Row were tipped to be right up there this year? Maybe not given early results.
If only I could play football . . ..

Great little player. I was surprised Hurst didn't try harder to keep him

Tips - i think with our old manager going over there with a lot of our old first team who were strong last season he was struggling to get a game at hurst, v good for us though :D

Thanks Heathfielder i know the management team this year have been working hard to get the lads to play good passing footballl, especially with Leylands for our home games as is a really good pitch for Mid Sussex football. Certain away trips in the middle of winter might not be so agreebale with our style of play though!!

Would this be the same Louis Pople who played for Lewes last season and has been in the Burgess Hill 1st team this season?
