Opinions please...Rep side.

Postby sister dew » Tue Sep 20 2011, 08:05

Hi, as my last thread about the National Cup and The County 3 Rep side was a little cryptic and got hundreds of views but few replies i thought id simplify it.
i was just really trying to start a debate about it.

Is it worth it?
Are players bothered?
Do managers hate losing players for 1 evening a month for a game?

Your thoughts please!

I always found it an honour when chosen to play....
Now I am a manager, I actually feel proud some of my lads made the reps squad, albeit the Worthing & District League Rep side.
Its only 4/5 games a year unless you progress in the Nationals...
We dont own the players, if they dont want to be a part of it, they wont.

I believe the Reps Teams are well worth it and probably quite a proud achievement if you are picked as a player to be involved.

Macca - cracking 2 seasons ago when we were involved with the West Sussex Rep Team and won the tournament......

I believe its an honour to represent your league/county,it says that the hard work
your putting in is being recognised.

Its not easy to play rep football, club rivalries have to be put to one side half hour warm up & then your into it.

Overall i think rep sides are a good thing if the commitments there.

Out of the local sides i believe that mid sussex & div 3 are still in the national cup,not sure if worthing entered how do people think they will fair?

I"m surprised this competion hasnt drawn more attention the prize to actually represent England, wear the 3 lions & bag a free fortnight away at intermediate level
i think is fantastic.

The Worthing & Horsham League Rep side visited Ringmer FC to play The Mid-Sussex side last night....
The game ended 0-0 but the quality on show was a real advert for local football.
I must also say Bob and his team at Ringmer FC were great hosts and laid on a great after match spread....
Good luck to Mid-Sussex in their next games, and also to all inolved with Ringmer FC it was a pleasure to play there.
