New non-League book out soon!

Postby Nomad » Tue Oct 23 2012, 21:53

I am now taking pre-orders for my forthcoming book, my first since publishing 'A Season Of Sussex Soccer' with Terry Buckman in 2008. Titled 'Love Not Money', it focuses on the many men and women - those unsung heroes - who make the non-League game so special ... and possible ... for all of us. For more information and how to order visit http://www.centrecirclepub.co.uk

"Over two seasons David Bauckham photographed and interviewed volunteers at the various non-League football clubs he visited on his travels. These individuals, and many like them are the 'lifeblood' of the National Game without whom many clubs simply would not survive. Their words reflect the general views of 'non-League people': what football at this level means to them, why they do what they do, and just as importantly, the challenges they face, and continue to face on a weekly basis.

With over 70 interviews and portraits, from Club Presidents and Secretaries, to Programme sellers and Turnstile operators, 'Love Not Money' is an essential purchase for anyone who cares about non-League football, whether they are a club official, player, supporter ... or volunteer."

Thanks Richard, order received thanks. I will hopefully be sending them out next week.

The book was inspired by Fred Randall, former President of Rustington FC, who I saw going around with a collection box at a game vs Bosham back in 2003, and decided that one day I would undertake a project about people like him. He was my first interviewee back in 2010. I understand he is not very well these days, but hope he will be cheered by the book, which is dedicated to him and all non-League volunteers.

Order received Gary. I was at St. Francis Rangers earlier this season but didn't see you. Are you still involved there?

Just received mine David and looks a superb publication, i look forward to reading it over the next few days and doubtless it will provide me with some ammo to abuse Mick Webster on Saturday

And congratulations on obtaining a photo of Peacehaven's Jim Edwards smiling!

You won't be able to miss those two characters Mike. Please take a photograph of them holding open 'their' page (or get someone to take a pic for you) as I'm going to start collecting these. Oh, and ask them why they haven't ordered a copy yet?

Hope you enjoy it Grahame. More importantly carry it in your camera bag and photograph any of its 'featured subjects' with the book, holding open 'their' page
