Hi guys.

First time posting and its a tricky one for you. I look after the Horsham website, http://www.hornetsreview.co.uk. Put together more by luck than judgement and all is well until I encounter the sort of problem highlighted to me at the weekend. It has been pointed out that, when viewing the site on an apple mac, the text overlaps text rendering the site illegible. The problem does not exist if viewed through Windows. Is there a simple (and I mean simple) way of resolving this issue without having to start from scratch ?

Cheers

Simple... less than 5% of the world use Macs, iMacs, etc. Forget it, they are elitist. And no I'm not being funny, I'm being dead serious... work on the basis that 90-98% of people reading the web site do so on a PC. Websites are for the masses and unless you want to waste untold hours on an unpaid project (I assume) then forget the apple lads.

Good answer Geoff, and one that I am inclined to go with. At least I asked the question !!

Have a look at the fonts you are using on your site as some in the Apple are not available and then default to fixed width fonts. This would then cause characters to overlap which (i think) is your issue.

Best to go with Default Fonts when designing sites so that they will be compatible with all.

Another thing the apple (or safari) user may have to do it to clear their font cache as well.

Is ok mate, it's unusual to see a 6 year old post dragged back up! My take 6 years ago was if you are doing a website for no monetary return then just do it for the masses. I was obviously doing cross browser six years ago but getting paid for it, which makes a difference. Nowadays with your i-Phone, Android, tablets, notebooks, notepads, Safari, Chrome, 83 different flavours of IE, Firefox, etc., etc., etc. things have become a bit of a minefield! But for a voluntarily built website I'd still try and cut down on all the different technologies as much as possible.
